The person behind the AtomDekNurse page was once a veterinarian in Thailand, a graduate of a leading university, before deciding to cross the world and start over caring for 'people' in Australia. She didn't jump straight into nursing. She began through the first door many Thais use — a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care & Disability) — then worked in aged care, gaining experience and adjusting to a very different health system. She then enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing (Graduate Entry) at Flinders University in Adelaide; two years of tuition came to about AUD 80,200 (roughly two million baht), and because Flinders charges per subject she could pay in installments. After graduating and registering as a Registered Nurse (RN), she joined the TPPP for new graduates and moved to Mount Gambier, a regional SA town where the health system genuinely needs nurses. The path was long and pressured her on money and language, but it proved that changing careers as an adult really is possible if you start with small, concrete steps.
