Khun Jeab once had her own restaurant in Bangkok, but it had to close down right around the time just before COVID. She decided to bring her whole family to make a fresh start in Adelaide around 2023, because she liked how quiet and peaceful the city was, how easy it was to live in, and how everything was close together. Three years later she opened Baan A-ma (Grandma's House) in the Kensington Park area, doing it all themselves across three generations of the family — her mother, her sister-in-law, and her daughter — serving food from recipes genuinely passed down in the family rather than from a cookbook, and getting a good response from the very first month it opened.
